Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care by the nature and specific requirements of the department. The care is consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care. We use established nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers. Our nurses model a commitment to the organizations vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience. Our clinical outcomes contribute to the overall departmental performance.

What will you do in this role:

  • Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Conducts complete patient evaluation before procedure, including review of patient history and diagnostic tests, as well as physical and psychological assessments. Ensures patient/family/caregiver understands the procedure and the peri-operative process. Obtains and witnesses consent form.
  • Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications, and escalates care concerns appropriately.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.
  • 1-2 years ICU nursing experience preferred
  • Associates degree in nursing required, Bachelor preferred
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS on hire
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS is required within 6 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
  • TNCC is required within 18 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
  • PALS is a highly recommended advanced course, however, is not mandatory.
  • Level I competencies are required to be completed by the end of the first 18 months of employment
  • Level II competencies are required to be completed by the end of the third year of employment

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318+ patient beds. Our hospital is the largest medical facility in the region. We serve southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and parts of Montana. Our facility has an ER, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (one of two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. We have the regions only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for critically ill children. Our 74-bed Behavioral Health Center offers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adolescents and adults.
