In July 1968 the first five residents were admitted to Lakeside Lutheran Home. Lakeside was dreamt of and brought to fruition by seven partnering Lutheran churches, all whom had Christian concerns for our community. Since then Lakeside has helped many community members of Emmetsburg and the local area. We are privileged to help those who need our help the most. Lakeside is a licensed Medicare/Medicaid nursing facility with a capacity of 60 residents. Lakeside offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to those who are recuperating from surgery, illness or hospitalization . The home was built with resident comfort and dignity in mind. The North and South wings are identical with 20 private rooms each with a private bathroom. West wing has a mix of private rooms with a shared bathroom and double rooms. Each wing has its own lounge with television, tables and chairs for resident and visitor pleasure. The home is air conditioned in the hallways only, so the residents who do not prefer the coolness may opt to close their doors. The rooms also have individual thermostats in each room for heat control during the cooler months. Lakeside Lutheran Home has a special care unit called "The Haven". That was built to serve individuals with a primary diagnosis of an irreversible dementia such as Alzheimer's. Common features of this program include a segregated living unit with special design features of dining and socialization. Making a donation, pledging a gift or giving a memorial are all ways you can help us attain our future goals and meet our residents' needs. Because Lakeside maintains a non-profit status, gifts are tax deductible and can be listed on your tax return.
