Job Description
An ER Hold Registered Nurse manages patients who remain in the emergency department pending bed assignment or further evaluation. This role includes ongoing monitoring, treatment, and collaboration with hospital units for admissions or discharges.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide continued care and assessment for patients awaiting inpatient or specialty placement.
- Administer medications, interventions, and reassess patient status regularly.
- Coordinate with hospital units and case management to expedite patient flow.
- Document care accurately and maintain communication with the primary care team.
- Educate patients and families on care plans and potential next steps.
- Often an extension of a busy emergency department setting.
- Requires adaptability to manage various patient acuity levels.
- Involves collaboration with multiple disciplines to facilitate patient movement.
